FOCAL WALL FOR THE FRONT ENTRY...on a shoestring!

Remember my previous post about my Goodwill finds and my idea for an interesting focal wall for my front hallway? It is finally at a point worth posting about!

We finally finished the project! Here is my view from the couch:



P.S. The Villa de Fleur pillow is from Marley & Lockyer. I had to have it!

The frames are all from Goodwill and cost a total of $21. The mirror was also a Goodwill find for $4. All the frames needed was a little spray paint and a light sanding to create their aged look. The striped background was created with a striped cotton chenille fabric that I found in the clearance bin at the fabric store for $6! The grand total for this interesting entry wall was about $32. As I always say, NEVER underestimate the possibilities at your local thrift shop!

What I absolutely love about this wall is that it is functional, creative, and can be rearranged on a whim! The empty frames provide endless opportunities for seasonal decor and the stripes provide a great neutral background that will allow whatever goes inside the frames to really stand out.

I'm thinking I found the perfect home for a beautiful photo of my grandmother LaVerne, aka Lovie. She was a COMPLETELY FABULOUS and creative woman, and I couldn't think of a better way to honor her memory. I never had the privilege of meeting her, but she left behind plenty of evidence that she could make something fabulous out of ANYTHING! If she had some expired eggs and some broken crayons, she made beautiful hand painted Easter eggs. If she found an elegant looking branch washed up on the beach, she turned it into an Easter egg tree. If she found some pesky snags in her pantyhose, she didn't just throw them away, she used them to make fancy tights for my mom's dolls. I might not have met her, but through her creations that she left behind, I know her.



As far as I'm concerned, Martha Stewart ain't got nothin on our Lovie!
