What's New?

My blank canvas is blank no longer....

Before:

After:

The owner and I wanted to describe the woman that shops at Sixth Avenue. I think we did a pretty swell job!

There are a few embellishments as well...

A brooch or two...

AND the wall behind the checkout counter is ALMOST complete!!!

Here is a peak....

The mirror is another gorgeous find from Embellished Heart!

I covered a large portion of the wall with this damask stencil and that GORGEOUS chandelier lamp is from Embellished Heart!! It is adorned with some pretty crystals that aren't exactly showing up in this image. I will be sure they do in the next!

...I learned many lessons during this stenciling project. One of which, is to hire someone for all future stenciling projects! Of course, I did pick the most detailed stencil in the world, so the fact that it was so tedious was my fault. I have a tendency of doing that to myself! Someday, I might learn, but it's doubtful. :)

Here are some Stenciling Tips that I learned the hard way:

1. Use Floetrol paint conditioner. It slightly thins the paint and slows the drying time. This will help the paint slide on and stop it from gooping up and clogging the small detailed areas.

2. Keep wet paper towels handy! A LOT of them!

3. Keep a bottle of wine within reach and a bowl of white cheddar crackcorn.

4. Start in the center and slowly work out, while skipping around to different areas, so as not to smear the newly painted sections.

5. Make sure you have a few vacation days available after completion. You will need them.

P.S. I hate stenciling! I will say, the results are always worth it!

Happy Monday!!

A (very large) Blank Canvas...

The consignment boutique has a new huge canvas for greeting and informing it's fabulous
customers and consignors!

(The HUGE frame came from my homie at ArtWorks....it's a real beauty, Thanks Chet!)

We are working on a clever mission statement that will also incorporate some quirky product placement.
In a few more days this chalkboard wall will be black no longer!!

Other exciting things happening...

....this chair is getting a brand new jadalicious life!

Here's a peak...

How would you like to sit on this beauty and try on some fabulous shoes?!?

Also happening in Kenosha are some new hot color combinations!!

Tori, from Embellished Heart, has been cranking out some vivacious pieces! I want them all!

The latest issue of Traditional Home had both of our heads spinning with inspiration!

The pics of Sela Ward's home....

See?!? Those fresh vintage color combos are to die for!

My favorite part is her art collection and how the pieces are incorporated throughout her home.

AND look at that lamp! I die! This is how to live people. Surrounded by art and cool stuff.

As if Sela Ward's home wasn't enough....they did a spread on the office of Deborah Lloyd, the president and chief creative officer at Kate Spade....My favorite and most deadly vice!!

First, they hit you with the polka dot shoes...

then, they get you with a colorful shot of her work space.....
(please note framed illustrations...SWOON!!!)

and her inspiration board....

and do NOT fail to notice the Florence Broadhurst collection! That woman was a GENIUS!!

This issue is full of design crack!! If you don't have it, go get yourself a copy, and while you're at it, create an appropriate shrine for all of it's glory.

THE END.

Fall is Coming!!

Are you jonesing for fall??

I AM!!

It's my favorite season for several reasons:

1. My Daughter's birthday and MY birthday happen to be in the fall! We always go bonkers for both, and I can't even wait!

2. You get to wear boots again!!
I'll take these Kate Spade's...

thank you very much!

3. You get to wear sweaters and sweater dresses!! This equals getting to hide the results of your summer
love affair with the new bakery that opened around the corner!!

This one looks like it will do the trick!

This one might require a larger bow......

....to hide the fact that the chocolate cupcakes at the bakery seem to have CRACK in them!!

4. Soup. Especially cheesy soup. Maybe with some beer battered cheese curds on top??
Hey!! Don't judge. I live in Wisconsin!

5. It may be a good coincidence that fall is also when the time comes to renew my gym membership.

6. The BEST part...rich colors! Like these....

Which are part of my fall color palette at the consignment boutique!!

Here is another little peak.....

(I am leaving the cover on these fabulous shades until I am done slinging paint around!
I don't want you to think I am like THAT. You know the type. NOT fun.)

As you can see, I tackled another stripe project! I think I am a professional stripe painter at this point!
The color: Impulsive Purple by Sherwin Williams /sw6832.

The fabulous Italian lamp is part of a set that was brought into the shop by a consignor and we purchased them immediately! I mean, how often do vintage Italian lamps just walk right in the door??? I wish they would more often. Some vintage Italian sconces and chandeliers would be great too....just sayin....the door is open!

I can almost show you a finished fitting room, but we are still working on a rug, some wall art, and the mirror frame, BUT it will come together really soon! I am BEYOND excited to show you more!!

If you're a local, there are similar lamps at LeEsthers, as well as any kind of lamp shade you could ever want!! The owners of this local business KNOW their lighting, and the people around here who know what's up, travel the necessary miles just to be taken care of by these experts. That's what happens when you're awesome!

So there's my top six reasons that I love fall almost as much as pumpkin muffins and chocolate/crack filled cupcakes!!

My Two Favorite Things!!

Fashion and Interior Design.

My two obsessions!

They are colliding at Sixth Avenue Consignment! A fabulous little consignment boutique located in downtown Kenosha!

Here is a little taste of what I have been up to...

The fitting rooms!

I still have some ALOT of work to do, but I am soooo very excited to be working on this fabulous boutique! I am also excited to work with it's owner, Mrs. Sherry Ludwig, a fellow Scorpio, who also has a great eye for fashion and design. It doesn't hurt that she also has a love for wine and tasty treats....ok... maybe that does hurt when I try to put on my pants...but that doesn't matter!! We have a ton of fun together!

What can you find at this lovely little boutique?? Besides me and my own little line of home decor accessories...how about some Dooney & Bourke.....Coach.....Ralph Lauren.....Micheal Kors...the list goes on!!! Sometimes it is VERY hard for me to work being surrounded by so many things I want to take home with me!

So get your booty down to my favorite little town, Kenosha, which is at times lovingly referred to as Ken-nowhere, and do some SHOPPING!! Why Ken-nowhere you may be asking?? Because A LOT of people do NOT realize that the cutest little boutiques are starting to pop up AND that there are some great places to eat and shop in the downtown area! Actually, the BEST places are located downtown! Why people still go to chain stores and restaurants and pay MORE, I will never understand.

Anyway, now that I have rattled on about Kenosha, can you see where this beige, cream, and purple palette is heading??

There will be some pops of green, turquoise, and some additions of classic black and white.

Can't wait to share more with you! I am working like crazy and some of my latest and greatest projects will be ready for their closeups! Stay tuned!
